Master Sam Choi studied Pak Mei Kung Fu under the renowned Master Cheung Bing Fat (third son of Grand Master Cheung Lai Chuen). He has diligently trained and refined his Pak Mei Kung Fu for more than 40 years. Since the 1970s, Master Sam Choi has been spreading Pak Mei Kung Fu in Hong Kong. In the early 1990s, Shing Tak Tong was established in Toronto, Canada to promote traditional Chinese Kung Fu and culture. It was also to give other ethnic groups an opportunity to understand and interact with traditional Chinese culture.

Pak Mei Kuen excels in focusing power from every part of the body to strike a single point. This is accompanied by proper breathing, conditioning of muscles and agility of one’s stance. The goal is to train all the tendons and muscles of the body to work as a single coordinated unit allowing the body to be greater than the sum of its parts exposing its true hidden power.

The book introduces the concepts behind Pak Mei Kung Fu. It also discusses Master Sam Choi’s views on the similarities between different styles of Kung Fu. The famous Pak Mei form “Kau Bo Tui” is revealed, along with illustrations and explanations of the moves and their names.

Pak Mei Kuen stresses on the hard and soft duality in Kung Fu, which is a central theme in traditional Chinese Kung fu. One can see the prominence of this concept in Pak Mei Kuen from their saying “Hard appearing soft, soft appearing hard. Hard and soft working in unison, power flowing never ending.” The abundance of traditional Chinese Kung Fu concepts in Pak Mei Kuen shows the level of sophistication Cantonese Kung Fu practitioners process.
